I have previously taken a chewable prenatal vitamin which did not have a pleasant taste; why should I chew Select-OB ™? |
| Patient feedback indicates that existing chewable prenatal vitamins either taste poorly or leave an uncomfortable chalky taste in the mouth. In addition, they were often not taken on days when chewing would cause problems. Select-OB ™ has a very pleasant, non-chalky, mixed berry taste when chewed. |

Is Select-OB ™ gluten and iodine free? |
| Select-OB ™ is gluten and iodine free. If you are iodine deficient or have a thyroid problem you should consult with your physician. However, routine administration of iodine during pregnancy to patients with normal thyroid function has not been embraced in the United States.
Gluten is a cohesive, elastic protein found in wheat, barley, rye and oat products and is used in many pharmaceutical products on the market today because it is less expensive when used as a binder. Many generic products use gluten as a binder. Gluten should be avoided by patients with Celiac Disease. Everett Laboratories does not use gluten in any of its products. |

Why does Select-OB ™ contain Folic Acid? |
| Before, during and after pregnancy, the need for the essential vitamin folic acid is increased. A neural tube defect, such as spina bifida, cleft pallet or cleft lip, is associated with low folic acid serum content. These defects can and do occur, due in large part to an inadequate intake of folic acid. Studies are clear that having less than adequate folic acid levels before and during pregnancy increases the risk of complications both in the newborn and the mother. This is one of the many reasons your doctor has prescribed Select-OB ™. |

Why is iron essential during pregnancy and included in Select-OB ™? |
| Oxygen is obviously essential for life on earth, including human life. Oxygen supply to the unborn child is a critical factor for a healthy newborn. The primary function of iron is to carry oxygen to cells in the blood stream known as red corpuscles. The iron that can be absorbed, even from an optimal diet, is less than the iron requirements in pregnancy. Studies have shown that poor iron status during pregnancy can be associated with poor pregnancy outcome.
Select-OB ™ contains an extremely well tolerated and absorbable form of iron known as a polysaccharide iron complex. |
