STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components. Not intended for treatment of pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemias where vitamin B12 is deficient. Neurologic involvement may develop or progress, despite temporary remission of anemia, in patients with vitamin B12 deficiency who receive supplemental folic acid and who are inadequately treated with B12.

Drug and Treatment Interactions: As little as, 5 mg of Pyridoxine daily can decrease the efficacy of Levodopa in the treatment of Parkinsonism. Therefore, STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS is not recommended for patients undergoing such therapy.

Caution should be exercised in patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, ischemic heart disease, hyperthyroidism, increased intraocular pressure and prostatic hypertrophy. The elderly (60 years or older) are more likely to exhibit adverse reactions. Hydrocodone can produce drug dependence, and, therefore, has the potential for being abused

General: Caution should be exercised in patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or thyroid disease. The hydrocodone in TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup may exhibit additive effects with other CNS depressants, including alcohol.
Information for Patients: The hydrocodone may cause drowsiness and ambulatory patients who operate machinery or motor vehicles should be cautioned accordingly.
Drug Interactions: MAO inhibitors and beta adrenergic blockers increase the effects of sympathomimetics. Sympathomimetics may reduce the antihypertensive effects of methyldopa, mecamylamine, reserpine and veratrum alkaloids. Concomitant use of hydrocodone with alcohol and other CNS depressants may have an additive effect.
  Pregnancy:
Pregnancy Category C: It is not known whether TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.
Nursing Mothers: It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup is administered to a nursing woman.

Adverse reactions have been reported with specific vitamins and minerals, but generally at levels substantially higher than those in STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS.

However, allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible at lower levels. Iron, even at the usual recommended levels, has been associated with gastrointestinal intolerance in some patients.

TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup is a Schedule III Controlled Substance. Because of the hydrocodone content, some abuse might be expected. Psychic dependence, physical dependence and tolerance may develop upon repeated administration. It should be prescribed and administered with the degree of caution appropriate for this type of product.
In all cases of suspected overdose, immediately call your regional poison center and/or contact a physician immediately. Symptoms of overdosage may be caused by hydrocodone or phenylephrine. Hydrocodone may cause the classic narcotic symptoms of coma, pinpoint pupils of the eyes, and/or depressed respiration. The treatment of choice is naloxone hydrochloride administered in small intravenous doses (consult specific product labeling before use). Symptoms of overdosage with phenylephrine include anxiety, tenseness, respiratory difficulty, throbbing headache and awareness of the slow forceful heartbeat. Treatment is similar to that of an overdosage of epinephrine.
Usual adult dosage; one caplet daily.

Description

STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS is a prescription-only multivitamin/mineral caplet specially formulated for prophylactic or therapeutic nutritional supplementation in physiologically stressful conditions.

STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS supplies therapeutic levels of water soluble vitamins (ascorbic acid, folic acid, vitamins: B1, B6, B12); supplemental levels of vitamin B2, niacin, biotin, pantothenic acid, fat soluble nutrients, mixed carotenoids, vitamins E and D. Minerals (chromium, magnesium, manganese, selenium, zinc, copper). Also contained in STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS are the nutrients, alpha-lipoic acid and lutein. Recent medical reports have shown a causal effect regarding the use of folic acid and the lowering of elevated levels of homocysteine. Elevated homocysteine levels have been identified as one of the risk factors for heart attacks and strokes in men.

Citric acid, edetate disodium, glycerin, methylparaben, propylparaben, propylene glycol, saccharin sodium, sodium citrate, sorbitol, water, FD&C red 40, artificial cherry flavor.

TUSSAFED-HCG Syrup contains ingredients of the following therapeutic classes: antitussive, nasal decongestant and expectorant.

Hydrocodone bitartrate is a potent antitussive which causes suppression of the cough reflex by a direct action on the cough center. Hydrocodone is approximately three times as potent as codeine on a weight basis, but has a higher addiction potential also. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a sympathomimetic amine which acts predominantly on alpha receptors and has little action on beta receptors. It, therefore, functions as an oral nasal decongestant with minimal CNS stimulation. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which exerts its action by stimulation of reflexes from the stomach and acts through the nauseant effect which increases the output from the secretory glands of the respiratory tract.

STROVITE ADVANCE CAPLETS is indicated for prophylactic or therapeutic conditions. These include: Conditions causing depletion, or reduced absorption or bioavailability of essential vitamins and minerals. Inadequate intake due to highly restricted or unbalanced diets such as those frequently associated with anorexic conditions and other states of severe malnutrition. Gastrointestinal disorders, chronic alcoholism, chronic or acute infections (especially those involving febrile illness), prolonged or wasting disease, congestive heart failure, hyperthyroidism, poorly controlled diabetes or other physiologic stress. Also patients on estrogenic oral contraceptives or other estrogen therapy, antibacterials which affect intestinal
microflora, or other interfering drugs. Certain conditions resulting from severe B-vitamin or ascorbic acid deficiency. Cheilosis, gingivitis, stomatitis and certain other classic water-soluble vitamin deficiency syndromes. Conditions resulting in increased needs for essential vitamins and minerals. Recovery from surgery or trauma involving severe burns, fractures or other extensive tissue damage. In addition, pregnant women and those with heavy menstrual bleeding.
